MANASQUAN — Manasquan High School [MHS] dance program hosted its third annual spring dance show on May 18, featuring dozens of dance numbers performed by the students of the program.
According to Melissa Galano, director of dance at the high school, the performance was the fifth dance show ever done at MHS and included a mix of choreography by Ms. Galano, students and other artists whose choreography is used in the program during the school year.
“I think the show went phenomenally,” she said. “It was amazing. It was wonderful. I am so happy and so proud of the students. Their energy and positivity was probably the best part. They are all so supportive of one another, and that is one of the most rewarding experiences for me.”
“Of course I care about technique and accuracy and the performance itself, but with them supporting each other, it brings the performance even more to life. They were electric, and you can see that they were connecting with each other,” said Ms. Galano.
Ms. Galano said some 45 students performed during the show, supported by 15 crew members who worked behind the scenes to make the event possible. The overall production included a wide variety of levels and styles of dance, including ballet, musical theater, jazz and hip hop. One student also performed a piano solo and sang.
