MANASQUAN — The Sea Lavender Garden Club will be holding its annual Mother’s Day Plant and Bake Sale at Curtis Park from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 13.
The event, which is rain or shine, directly benefits the club’s scholarship fund that is awarded each year to students from the Avon, Belmar, Bradley Beach, Brielle, Lake Como, Manasquan, Sea Girt, Spring Lake or Spring Lake Heights areas.
Last year, the club awarded four $2,000 scholarships, which accumulated from plant sale profits, thanks to tremendous community support, despite a storm on the same day.
“There are always a large variety of hanging baskets, patio planters of varying sizes with several different flowering plants, smaller baskets and smaller pots as well as an assortment of herb and tomato plants,” said Linda Leykam, board member of the Sea Lavender Garden Club. “This year, a signature container with lavender will be featured.”
Ms. Leykam encourages all residents to support the event and to, “come early and surprise your mother or grandmother with some flowering plants and desert.”
