BRADLEY BEACH — The third annual Bradley Beach Green Fair will be held this Saturday, April 22 in Riley Park, a free event that aims to promote a healthy and sustainable lifestyle.
Exhibitors at this year’s Bradley Beach Green Fair include the Bradley Beach Shade Tree and Environmental Commissions, the Shark River Cleanup Coalition and the American Littoral Society. The day begins with a free Earth Day yoga class in Riley Park from 8:30 to 9:15 a.m. Bring a blanket or towel.
The Shade Tree Commission will be hosting a spotted lanternfly talk with local environmental scientist Caroline Davidson at 10:30 a.m. in the main stage area of Riley Park. Alongside several arts and crafts vendors, other events include beekeeper Ray Pogwist presenting a live beehive and Sandy Sea, a local mermaid, speaking to kids about protecting their ocean home.
There will be a small art student art exhibit, showcasing the work of Bradley Beach Elementary School’s eighth graders. The students’ work will be exhibited in the gazebo in Riley Park. Kayley Tezbit, the Source Water Protection Ambassador for central New Jersey will discuss rain barrel usage as well.
Other participating organizations include the Bradley Beach Business Community Alliance, the Bradley Beach Historical Society and the Mayors Wellness Campaign Committee. The Bradley Food Pantry will have a table as well, where attendees can donate canned foods.
There will be food, hands-on kids’ activities including a “Build Your Own” planter with the Neptune City Girl Scouts and free face painting. There is also a scavenger hunt planned within the park. The Bradley Beach Public Library has put together a story walk around the perimeter of the park as well. Live music will be provided starting at noon in the park, featuring Kenny K and the Way and Dan Leyes.
