BAY HEAD — All Saints Episcopal Church in Bay Head has announced its third event as part of their new Bristol Music Series, introduced in September. The church will welcome Michael Diorio on Sunday, April 23, who will present an appreciation of the 1982 Hymnal, and invite the audience to join in.
“The church had an organist named Lee Bristol Jr. who played there for over 40 years, he was also the vice president of Bristol Myers Squibb,” said Stephen Pinel, organist and music director at the church. “So in memory of him we established a program called the Bristol music series…this was our first year.”
According to Mr. Pinel, the program honors all of Mr. Bristol’s work in editing and writing the hymnal music that is still used in the church to this day. He was also responsible for the purchase of the church organ from Canada in 1974.
