MANASQUAN — Manasquan High School [MHS] partnered with New York Blood Center for a blood drive in town on Tuesday, April 18.
Claire Kozic, teacher of MHS and advisor of the Academy of Health Careers, helped organize this annual blood drive open to the people of Manasquan, along with Nutsa Merabishvili, a senior of MHS and member of the Academy of Health Careers.
The Academy is a special program students can join if they are interested in pursuing a career in health care.
This event is held every fall and spring to help encourage members of the town and the school to donate blood to those in need. Last fall, 69 pints of blood were donated.
Ms. Kozic said, “New Jersey just put out that they are at an all time low because of lack of donors.” With less and less people donating blood, and need at all times, this is very crucial to have clinics and donations like this to ensure those in need can get the help they need.
Nutsa said, “One donation can save up to three lives.”
