POINT PLEASANT— A cement truck sank into the front lawn of 1115 Arnold Ave. on Friday, April 7.
The truck, driven by employees from Suffolk Redi Mix, was set to pave a walkway and ramp leading to the building that houses three separate commercial offices owned by North American Video [NAV], a gaming service and security company.
The cement truck drove directly onto the commercial building’s lawn, and an unused septic tank collapsed under the weight of the vehicle. The back half of the truck sank into the ground, according to Police Chief Adam Picca.
After the incident, Suffolk Redi Mix personnel were able to offload the cement to construct a ramp and pathway leading up to the front door of the building according to property owner Laurie Smock.
Three businesses operate out of the building, including NAV. Schwimmer & Slavick Dental and Edward Jones Financial Advisor could not be reached for comment.
“There was a miscommunication,” said Ms. Smock of NAV, going on to say that the cement truck should have never pulled onto the lawn in the first place. She expressed relief, however, that the site work was completed and no one was injured in the process.
Chief Picca confirmed that there were no personal or structural injuries. Point Pleasant Department of Public Works maintained traffic control on the scene to ensure the safety of all.
