BRIELLE — First through third-grade students at Brielle Elementary School celebrated a fun slime event yesterday in the school auditorium at 605 Union Lane.
This year’s “Read-a-Thon,” culminated in a slime activity attended by first, second and third grade students and their teachers. The gooey mess was also live streamed on YouTube for other students.
“Slime is the prize the students get for reaching their 100 books reading goal,” said third-grade teacher Katherine Terracciano, who brought the idea to the school principal who agreed to be one of the motivating persons “to be slimed.”
For the slime event, Mr. John Russo was the slime target for the third graders, Mr. Colin Sabia for the second graders and Mr. Kurt Becker was a bonus for both grade levels.
The slime is “edible” as it was made from vanilla pudding, apple sauce, water and cornstarch.
“Read-a-thon is a two-week span, and the students are supposed to read as many books as they can and raise money,” said third-grade teacher Summer Smith.
