WALL TOWNSHIP — Wall Township Public Schools invited members of the community to participate in Phase 2 of their Strategic Planning Process on Wednesday evening.
Superintendent Tracy Handerhan provided an overview of the process vision, stating that it was an opportunity for the district to “take a pulse and identify priorities… to influence decision making for the next 3 years.”
During the session overview, consultant Tim Purnell asked attendees to write their thoughts about the school district on post-it notes to be displayed and later read by the strategic planning committee. Some items listed on the board included apprehension over the national teacher shortage and displeasure with current district operations and communication.
The group was then split into two smaller focus groups that individuals had pre-selected, ‘Academics’ and ‘Finance and Facilities.’ Members could attend either one or both thematic sessions. Group facilitators, which included members of the board of education strategic planning committee, facilitated group discussion through a series of guided questions.
On Monday, March 6 at 6:00 p.m., the board will host focus group sessions for the final three content areas: ‘Student Wellness,’ ‘Student Life’ and ‘Communications.’ Interested individuals can participate in as many focus groups as they wish. Community members can register on the district website, https://www.wallpublicschools.org/domain/115.
