BRIELLE — The Bayberry Garden Club of Brielle members donated flower arrangements to the residents at Sunrise of Wall, senior citizen assisted living, for Valentine’s Day.
Linda Chappa, project coordinator and chair of horticultural therapy for the club, stated that they delivered 47 flower baskets consisting of red, white or pink carnations, red roses, white mums, pink and white daisies and baby’s breath.
She also stated that the garden club members completed their flower designs with greenery from their own gardens.
“Since Valentine’s Day was on Feb. 14, at our regularly scheduled garden club meeting, we decided to do a “special” project this year, and many of our members were happy to participate. They personally donated the flowers and greenery for their creations, and included personal notes,” stated Ms. Chappa.
“I have been a member of the Bayberry Garden Club for 13 years, and the project has been going on for as long as I can remember. I have been participating for over 10 years and have been Chair for 8 years.”
Ms. Chappa stated that it was an “amazing experience” to see the joy on their faces when they were surprised with a special Valentine’s gift.
