Project Icebox, designed to provide easy access to essential information in times of emergency, is available to senior citizens through the Brick Township Senior Services.
Participants in Project Icebox receive a magnetic pouch that can be placed on the refrigerator or another visible place.
“This is a life saving project that our police department came up with a number of years ago. It really has saved lives because when emergency personnel whether it be the police or EMS arrive on the scene, especially when someone lives alone, if someone is unconscious, at least they are notified to look at the refrigerator because on there is going to be a list of what kind of medication is on or what type of conditions the patient has,” said Mayor John Ducey.
The pouches hold up-to-date information such as medical history, medication labels, living wills and emergency contacts.
The information is easily accessible for emergency responders, friends or family members in the event of a medical emergency.
