LAKE COMO — The Tourism Commission held its first meeting 2023 on Monday and designated Sept. 23 as the date for this year’s Lake Como Day celebration.
The borough-wide event will start at 4 p.m. on Sept. 23 to allow for a smooth segway into the fireworks show that evening.
Three members were also sworn in during the commission meeting. Residents Laura Kelly, Carly Ringer, and Bob Fahey all took their oaths of office.
In addition to the Lake Como Day schedule, ideas discussed to generate more tourism in the borough included the holding of craft markets and fairs, and farmers markets at Behrman Park once planned renovations there are completed.
These ideas are to be discussed further at future board meetings.
The commission also discussed the creation of a pamphlet with information on local businesses
This would be a directory of all the establishments in Lake Como that would be interested in promoting themselves to seasonal visitors.
On Lake Como’s website, there is a somewhat outdated business directory which the commission will be working to update along with the publication of this pamphlet.
