BRICK TOWNSHIP — Tom Zdyrski, president of Brick Community Emergency Response Team [CERT], recently talked to The Ocean Star about Brick CERT and what the agency does for the community.
“Brick CERT typically supports the Office of Emergency Management in Brick Township. We do whatever they request us to do. Other than emergency situations, we support scheduled events such as Summerfest, Night Out Against Crime and Trunk or Treat. We provide crowd control, security and general assistance to the public,” said Mr. Zdyrski.
Brick CERT is currently looking for new members of any experience level and will be providing free training in February of this year.
“We can use people of all ages, of all capabilities and people that have a desire to help their community and learn. It is a great program and builds community awareness and we definitely could use additional volunteers,” said Mr. Zdyrski.
CERT is a volunteer organization that does not collect money and has no money funded and all of the resources they use come from Brick Township or the state.
