POINT PLEASANT — Seniors on the 2022 Point Pleasant Borough High School football team have chosen to participate in the Adopt a Business program for a second year in a row.
According to Ginamarie Mazzaro, the tradition started in 2021 as the outgoing senior players throught asking a business to donate $100 to “Adopt a Senior” did not seem right during the hardships of COVID-19 restrictions.
She said, “This gesture by the players was so well received by the community and local businesses last year, that the 2022 Point Boro senior football team wanted to carry out this tradition and they hope it will continue as a tradition for years to come.”
In past years, businesses would pay the $100 to “Adopt a Senior” and that money would cover the cost of the senior’s Jersey to keep after the season.
According to Ms. Mazzaro, each player has chosen one local business to “adopt” and the Black & Gold Parents Club has chosen four local businesses and their posters will represent the Jersey numbers of each senior player.
