SPRING LAKE— Residents flocked to the Jersey Shore’s Irish Riviera on Saturday afternoon to take part in the annual Irish Festival, a locally beloved event that hasn’t been held in two years due to COVID.
The festival, which was hosted by the Spring Lake Chamber of Commerce [COC], consisted of dozens of vendors both from Spring Lake and elsewhere, and featured a number of activities and amenities including face-painting, a petting zoo, live music, dancing, a beer garden and more.
“This is the Irish Riviera, so here we are… we have tons of food… the street is packed,” said COC executive director Ellen Manger. “It’s kind of like a sidewalk sale for our restaurants, they’re loving it… We don’t charge an entrance fee, we don’t charge for the kids’ face-painting or balloon twisting or any activity going on… We’re not here to make money, we’re here to break even if we can and just give back to the town.”
Vendors included local artists, small businesses and restaurants including Spring Lake Seafood. Also attending the event were the festival’s two main sponsors: The Irish Centre and St. Stephen’s Green Publick House.
