BRADLEY BEACH — The projected cost of converting the former United Methodist Church building at 319 LaReine Ave. into a community center would be just over $10 million, according to a report completed by a special committee.
The borough took ownership of the century-old church more than two years ago, purchasing it from the Ocean Grove Camp Meeting Association for $1.5 million.
The conversion cost estimate of $10,0717,661 is included in architectural documents which are now available to the public at www.bradleybeachnj.gov on the borough hall tab, under “projects.”
“I think we went with the least cost option on the design which had about a 20 percent differential,” Mayor Larry Fox told The Coast Star.
Information within the documents includes a 3D model of the building with revised names of rooms and details of the interior and exterior site work along with a 2D floor plan and a schematic design summary and cost estimate of the project.
The borough will conduct a digital survey to assess the opinions and priorities of the community about the property, it will be accompanied by clarifying information about possible development of the property, including a proposed budget.
The survey will be accessible on computers, tablets and mobile phones with internet connectivity.
It will be open for responses from July 8 to 22.
For those who require assistance, digital access to the survey will also be made available at the Bradley Beach Public Library, 511 Fourth Ave.
