SPRING LAKE — The Spring Lake Historical Society, ironically enough, honored its own history on May 22 when it erected a commemorative plaque honoring four instrumental founding members. The plaque can be seen upon entering the historical society’s museum, located on the second floor of the municipal building at 423 Warren Avenue.
The members honored were Janice Sheehan, Elaine Erbe, Jane Haulenbeek and Elizabeth [Liz] Finnerty. During the ceremony, which friends and families of the women attended, Historical Society President Barbara Kolarsick-Harrigan spoke of the four founders on how dedicated they were to the preservation of Spring Lake history, each in their own way.
“I put on a presentation of the four people that are on the plaque…It was a nice turnout,” Ms. Kolarsick-Harrigan told The Coast Star. “People were very receptive to it… it was a nice get together.”
After the dedication and presentation, there was a reception where the friends and family had the opportunity to mingle with each other.
