BRADLEY BEACH — Council President Timothy Sexsmith first said he would resign, then said he would not. Both statements were made during Tuesday night’s council meeting.
“I have decided to resign from my seat on the Bradley Beach Borough council,” Mr. Sexsmith said, reading from a letter he said he had written after the last council meeting on May 24.
However, after reaching the end of the letter Tuesday night, Mr. Sexmith added, “I never sent this letter and I’m not resigning from my seat on the council. That would be failing to finish what I originally set out to do.”
In his letter, the council president wrote, “When I started to run for office three years ago I ran for a simple reason — things in town just didn’t seem like they were being run right. Nothing would have made me happier than to be wrong about that, but unfortunately, I was not.”
Continuing in the letter, Mr. Sexsmith wrote, “And as a member of the governing body in town we made great strides in identifying and correcting many of them, all while dealing with the challenges presented by a global pandemic.”
