POINT PLEASANT BEACH — Point Lobster Bar & Grill was filled to capacity with community members on Tuesday, June 7 to raise money to benefit Kyle Auwaerter, a lifelong resident of Point Pleasant Beach, in her battle with a rare form of blood cancer.
“It was unbelievable, the amount of people that showed up to support the Auwaerter’s was one of the most magical things I’ve ever seen,” said Shannon Godwin, manager of Point Lobster Bar & Grill and the main organizer of the fundraiser.
Ms. Auwaerter, 44, was diagnosed in May 2021. She has three daughters, ages four, six and eight.
She is currently away for a 3.5-4 month stay at Memorial Sloan Kettering in New York City as she has just received a stem cell transplant for her acute myeloid leukemia [AML] on the day of the fundraiser.
”What the town has been doing to pull together and make everyone feel good through this whole process was really wonderful,” said Ms. Auwaerter’s older brother and donor, Stephen Schneider.
