BRICK TOWNSHIP — This past weekend the Historic Society hosted their annual yard sale at the Havens Homestead Museum from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Brick.
Directly behind the museum the “Haven’s Farm” permitted visitors to park in its lot and as a result filled up rather quickly. It was a cloudy day and a small crowd of customers could be seen conversing with members tabling the event.
The members of the society sold personal effects such as china pieces, home décor, books, small appliances, lamps, baked cookies and custom jewelry. One of the members who lives in the neighboring home to the museum and gave them access to her property says she looks forward to the event every year, and loves to bake for it.
Also attending was a goldsmith exchanging customers’ gold jewelry for cash as well as a U.S. veteran informing, and recruiting new members into the Historic Society.
As appearances go, it was a calm, yet sociable day for the Historic Society.
The Historic Appeal is half the Experience
The lodgings on the property date back to the early 1800’s supplying a historic appeal for visiting patrons. According to residents living at 521 Herbertville Road, neighboring the museum, they appreciate the history of the property as it contrasts the town as we see it today.
