POINT PLEASANT BEACH — Mayor Paul Kanitra addressed residents via video on Monday about a planned popup party by individuals who “trashed” Pier Village in Long Branch during a similar event last month.
“By now some of you no doubt have already heard that the same idiots that trashed Long Branch just a few weeks ago, have now set their sights on Point Pleasant Beach for June 18,” Mayor Kanitra said in a video posted on his Facebook page.
He held up a printed out copy of a social media post with over 2,000 likes, advertising the party. The notice of the party was posted on Instagram by user @percc30dick. The post states: Beach Linkup pt. 2. New Location!! Point Pleasant Beach Saturday June 18 12 p.m. until a time that has not been disclosed.
The post advertises an afternoon of dance battles, twerking contests and a boxing match.
It advises attendees to bring their own liquor and “weed.”
“It’s not the first time that this idiot here has made fliers and caused chaos in my town or others, but yet here he is still doing it,” Mayor Kanitra said. He added that he wanted to alert residents and assure them that the borough is aware of the matter and plans to be proactive about addressing any disruptions.
