Martell’s Tiki Bar is a landmark on the boardwalk in Point Pleasant Beach. For decades, the open-air, outdoor bar has been a favorite spot for bar-goers on the Jersey Shore looking for live music, DJ sets and a good party on the beach. This summer, the bar is excited to welcome patrons back and will continue to hold the events it’s known for – like Tiki Monday – while introducing some new entertainment to the crowds.
Just a weekend post the traditional Memorial Day kick-off, summer of 2022 already holds promise to be a record-busting season for local bars.
“I’ve been here now for 22 years, and I can safely say this Memorial Day weekend was the biggest I’ve ever seen,” said Michael Hull, the bar’s assistant general manager. “While this stretch of June is still a little hit-or-miss for everyone, we’re definitely expecting it to be a big summer.”
NEW FOR THE SUMMER
This summer, the Tiki Bar has big plans.
“We always try to focus on good food and good beverages, and are known for being a venue that provides live music and great entertainment for our guests,” said Mr. Hull. “This summer, we’re expanding our music offerings. In addition to our normal slate of bands playing day and night, we’re going to have DJs on the beach every Saturday and Saturday night, starting in July.”
The DJs will play sets on the private beach bar, which is one of the few places on the Jersey Shore where you can order food, drinks and dance with your toes in the sand.
Mr. Hull continued, “One of the main things that sets us apart is the fact that you’re able to drink on the beach. People like being able to sit at the beach, get a drink via table service and hear live entertainment. We’re looking forward to being able to provide more of that this summer as the weather starts heating up and we get some of those hot New Jersey summer nights.”
He also noted that the bar will be rolling out a drink special on Saturday nights on the increasingly popular Beach St. “cocktail-in-a-can” drinks.
TIKI MONDAY IS BACK
The Tiki Bar will be bringing back some fan favorites this summer, including its famous Tiki Mondays – a much-loved event 11 years running.
“Tiki Monday started as a day for bartenders to come in and relax, unwind and enjoy a bar on their day off,” said Mr. Hull. “It’s just gotten bigger every year and now just about everyone in that age group knows about it and is there if they have the day off.”
Tiki Monday features a DJ on the beach from noon to 5 p.m. and has become one of the bar’s most popular days.
Aside from Tiki Monday, the bar is open 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., Sunday through Wednesday; and 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Thursday through Saturday. Not only does it serve delicious drinks at the ocean-view patio and beach bar, but it also hosts family friendly food options including Tiki Bar, Jake’s Crabhouse, Lobster House and a sushi bar.
It hosts live music almost every night throughout the summer, both indoors and out, featuring names like Screaming Broccoli, Pat Roddy Band, Jessica Rose Band and The Smokin’ Jackets, among others. The bar also hosts a weekly “Nine D eez Nite” for anyone looking to relive the last decade of the last century.
GREAT SUMMER AHEAD
With so many great shows, food, drink and summer fun ahead, the Tiki Bar team is confident that the summer ahead is going to be a good one.
“We’re in good shape with our staff and are really excited for the season ahead,” said Mr. Hull. “Like I said earlier, it was a packed Memorial Day weekend and it’s just great to see everyone getting out there again.”
