AVON — Avon’s Women’s Club annual spring luncheon took place on June 6, at the Spring Lake Manor.
The luncheon was a fundraiser for the Bradley Food Pantry, with all the proceeds going to the pantry.
The Bradley Food Pantry, located at 605 Fourth Avenue, Bradley Beach, provides groceries to those in need five days a week, Monday through Friday, from 10 a.m. to noon, and Thursday evenings from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Women’s Club President Lenore Decovsky said, “The Bradley Beach food pantry director and their staff [entirely made up of volunteers] were in attendance at the luncheon,” and she described how much they appreciated the Woman’s Club for hosting the event.
Ms. Decovsky said that there was a gift basket auction along with a 50/50 raffle and lunch. There were a total of 60 attendees at the event, however all luncheons are open for anyone to come.
“It was a well attended lovely event, and we are very happy with the outcome,” said Ms. Decovsky.
Ms. Decovsky explained how with COVID restrictions and limitations in the past couple of years, they had to take a two year hiatus from hosting the luncheons.
“During COVID, we couldn’t hold the event and unfortunately had to take 2 years off.”
She said that they were preparing in 2020 for the event but had to cancel it, along with the following year.
However, Ms. Decovsky explained how excited and happy that they are able to be back hosting these events such as the annual luncheon.
