BRADLEY BEACH — The 13th annual Rock & Walk for Children hosted by the New Jersey Chapter of The TEARS Foundation will be held on the Bradley Beach Boardwalk at Fifth Avenue on May 22 beginning at 9 a.m.
“The heart of our Rock & Walk is to let bereaved families know they are not alone,” stated Rachel Ruding, chairwoman of the walk.
Registration will open at 9 a.m., during which there will be light refreshments, children’s activities, rocking chairs for reflection, a gift basket raffle, a 50/50 and an opening ceremony.
The walk will kick off at 10:30 a.m., with participants walking south toward the borough of Avon, turning around at the Garfield Avenue Pavilion and returning to the Fifth Avenue Gazebo for closing ceremonies.
“As we rock in chairs or walk laps together, we honor the children whose names appear on butterflies lining the path and are reminded that we can find hope,” stated Ms. Ruding, adding, “We celebrate their lives by coming together as a community and rallying around these families.”
Ms. Ruding anticipates that 500 registered walkers will participate this year.
