POINT PLEASANT BEACH — A two-car motor vehicle accident that occurred Tuesday on Route 35 caused a sport-utility vehicle to flip over, although no injuries were reported.
The accident occurred at 4:52 p.m. on May 3 at 1208 Route 35 South at the intersection of Philadelphia Avenue, according to police.
Borough Councilwoman Arlene Testa happened to be in a shop in the area at the time of the accident, and assisted in comforting the driver.
“I was in Brave New World and I heard a loud crash and I saw all the pieces of the car when she flipped in the air…I heard it and I ran outside,” Ms. Testa said.
The car was turned over on its roof and first responders had not arrived, she recalled.
Ms. Testa said she ran over to the car and made eye contact with the driver, noticing that she looked frightened. “Hey, I’m right here. You’re OK,” she told the woman.
She then reached her hand out, held the driver’s hand and said she would stay with her until help arrived.
