BRICK TOWNSHIP — A Jackson man who is suspected to have stolen $47,000 worth of items from Extreme Marine Construction on Princeton Avenue was arrested on Jan. 6 after anonymous tips aided the Brick police’s investigation.
On Dec. 18, a man was caught on security camera footage loading a flatbed trailer with “expensive” aluminum beams removed the trailer with his truck., police said in a Dec. 24 Facebook post. In the same Facebook post, the police asked the public for any information they might have on the suspect.
With the help of anonymous tips, Brick police identified the suspect as 48-year-old John Paul Cottrell Sr., police said. An arrest warrant was put out for Mr. Cottrell, and he was arrested at his residence on Jan. 6, authorities said.
Mr. Cottrell was charged with theft of movable property and was put into Ocean County Jail, police said.
The stolen property however has yet to be recovered, and Brick police are currently investigating and requesting the public’s assistance for any knowledge on the property’s whereabouts. Residents with information can reach Det. Michael Bennett at 732-262-1122 or email@example.com.
