Bradley Beach school board fills vacancy

BRADLEY BEACH — The Bradley Beach Board of Education has unanimously appointed April Davis as its new board member filling the vacated seat of Donald Warnet, who submitted his letter of resignation in August. 

The appointment was made during a special virtual meeting on Oct. 4, April Davis was the only applicant reviewed in executive session. Ms. Davis will finish off Mr. Warnet’s term, which runs through December of 2022. 

Originally from Indiana, Ms. Davis attended Indiana University, where she received her undergraduate degree in journalism and English. She then attended Columbia University for graduate school, where she received her master’s degree in journalism. Ms. Davis worked professionally as a journalist for ten years. In 2007, Ms. Davis received a master’s degree in early childhood education from New York University. 


After becoming an educator in 2008, Ms. Davis spent her first four years of teaching at Sea Girt Elementary School. She has also been a substitute teacher at Bradley Beach Elementary School and Spring Lake Heights School, among other schools throughout the area. 

Ms. Davis is currently filling in a leave of absence for a friend, teaching fourth grade at The International Charter School in Trenton. Ms. Davis plans on continuing her career in early childhood education in the future.
