BRADLEY BEACH — The Shade Tree Commission will host a tree planting event on Oct. 9.
Volunteers will meet the commission at 9 a.m. at the firehouse located at 815 Main St where they will be given a tree and assigned a location for planting it.
Chairman of The Shade Tree Commission, Dr. George Heflich told The Coast Star, “We plan on having hopefully 20 volunteers to help with the planting. Our Department of Public Works (DPW) is going to be doing the bulk of the work by digging the holes, they are the unwritten heroes with this.”
There will be 16 trees in total planted throughout the borough. “Out of the 16 there will be eight ‘honor me’ memorial trees being planted that day,” Dr. Heflich said. “Four of these trees will have plaques on them.”
The Honor Me tree dedication program is open to residents who would like to plant a tree in memory of a loved one, a milestone event, or to make the community greener.
