BRICK TOWNSHIP — The Board of Education met on Sept. 27 to discuss the first few weeks of school and to share plans of adding air conditioning units to four district schools.
Superintendent Thomas Farrell announced that Emma Havens and Lanes Mill Elementary schools as well as Lake Riviera and Veterans Memorial Middle schools will receive complete HVAC installation next summer.
Sources of funds are also being looked into to provide air conditioning to Midstreams, Drumpoint, Osbornville, and Veterans Memorial elementary schools, according to board business administrator James Edwards.
As of right now, two out of the 12 schools in the district have air conditioning, which led the district to exercise an excessive heat exception for masks during the first two weeks of school under Gov. Murphy’s Executive Order 251.
