Physical therapist indicted for multiple sexual contact incidents

FREEHOLD — A Manasquan-based physical therapist has been indicted on three counts of fourth degree criminal sexual contact, Acting Monmouth County Prosecutor Lori Linskey announced in a press release.

A Monmouth County Grand Jury returned a three-count indictment on Monday against Lukas I. DeLorenzo, 36, of Neptune Township, “for events surrounding illegal sexual contact with two former employees,” beginning in September of 2019.

“The charges stem from incidents where DeLorenzo, under the guise of teaching treatment methods, would inappropriately touch and grope these employees, both at his office in Manasquan and in another location in Brielle,” according to the press release.

Mr. DeLorenzo, who was arrested and charged in March of 2020, faces up to 18 months in state prison on each count, if convicted.

The Manasquan and Brielle police departments had conducted a joint investigation with the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victim’s Bureau. The case is assigned to Assistant Prosecutor Nicole Wallace.

The prosecutor’s office added that despite the charges against Mr. DeLorenzo, “every defendant is presumed innocent, unless and until found guilty beyond a reasonable doubt, following a trial at which the defendant has all of the trial rights guaranteed by the U.S. Constitution and State law.”
