MANASQUAN — The Manasquan Chamber of Commerce will present its annual surfboard-decorating contest leading up to its Summer Festival on Aug. 28.
Surfboards will be displayed along Main Street from Aug. 23 to 28. Winners of the contest will be selected at the festival, which will run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Squan Plaza, and awarded Manasquan Money.
Contestants may use a wooden surfboard cutout provided by the chamber for a $20 deposit; boards will be available from Jaspan Hardware, 91 Main St., beginning Monday, Aug. 2.
The deposit will be returned when the contestants return their decorated surfboards to Jaspan Hardware, no later than Thursday, Aug. 19. However, if contestants adhere anything to the board that cannot be removed, their deposit will be kept by the chamber so that a new board can be made next year.
Individuals may vote for their favorite surfboard by visiting one of the participating businesses, including Bouquets to Remember, Yellow Daisy, Manasquan Lighting, BC Woof and Dandelion Boutique.
