Spring basketball clinics offered by Squan Rec

MANASQUAN — Manasquan Recreation has announced that it will be offering basketball clinics this spring at the Mallard Park basketball court.

The five-week program runs from May 25 to June 23 and is offered to children in preschool through third grade. The clinics will be directed by Manasquan High School girls basketball coach Lisa Kukoda.

The preschool and kindergarten session for children ages 4 and 5 will be held on Tuesdays from 4:15 to 5 p.m. The clinics will include a warmup and teach participants basic game concepts of offense, defense and court positions as well as dribbling, passing and defense skills.

The kindergarten and first-grade session for children ages 5 to 7 will be held on Tuesdays from 5 to 6 p.m. or Wednesdays from 4 to 5 p.m. This session will also include a warmup and teach participants basic game concepts and skills as well as shooting. There will be small group games to practice the skills learned.

The second- and third-grade session for children ages 7 and 9 will be held on Wednesdays from 5 to 6 p.m. Participants will do an exercise warmup, learn the aforementioned skills and game concepts including transitions, and hone their skills in small group games.

The program is $65 per player with a maximum of 15 players per session. Registration is available via Community Pass [an account is needed to register]. Visit the borough website, www.manasquan-nj.gov, and click on the Community Pass link.
