Council accepts Cops in Shops grant

LAKE COMO — The Lake Como Council approved a resolution at Tuesday, April 20’s council meeting to accept the Cops in Shops Summer Shore Initiative 2021 Grant.

The grant will be awarded to the Belmar Police Department as they police Lake Como and the total of the grant is for $7,920.

Council President Douglas Witte said, “This is a grant we get every year from the state. This is used to put undercover cops at the entrance of bars.”

The program the grant comes from is a cooperative effort between the Division of Highway Safety, the Division of Alcoholic Beverage Control and the Belmar Police Department.
