POINT PLEASANT BEACH — A fire destroyed at least one apartment in The Beacon Gardens Apartments Sunday as flames were seen barreling out of second-story windows in the early afternoon.
Ocean Fire Company and Point Pleasant Beach Fire Company #2 were dispatched to the scene following reports of smoke in the area. First arriving chiefs on scene reported smoke coming from a second floor apartment window, with fire starting to come from the window, officials said.
Truck 4305’s crew gained entry into the apartment, searched for any potential occupancy and started to vent the roof. Engine 4201’s crew stretched a 1 3/4 hose line into the apartment and made an aggressive knock on the fire.
Additional crews from 4211, 4203 and 4301 assisted with overhaul and knocking down any remaining pockets of fire, according to officials.
Fire officials have yet to determine the cause of the fire which is currently being investigated by Point Pleasant Beach Fire Marshal and Ocean County Fire Marshal’s Office.
“A thank you goes out to Point Pleasant First Aid & Emergency Squad & Point Boro EMS for EMS Rehab on scene, Point Pleasant Fire Department Station 75 for manpower and South Wall Fire Rescue for the FAST Team,” Ocean County Fire Officials said.
