PTO hits the bricks to fund new basketball court

BELMAR — The Belmar Elementary School Parent Teacher Organization is hoping to raise enough funds to build a basketball court, with the aim of constructing it brick by brick.

The association will be selling bricks to adorn the prospective court at Belmar Elementary School once it is completed. The project is the newest of a raft of fundraisers that have taken place over the course of a year to raise funds for a court.

The bricks, which cost $100 each, will “be there forever,” said Antoinette Raucci Aumack, a member of the Belmar Board of Education and the PTO. Bricks can also be decorated.

“We are looking forward to selling 200 [bricks],” she said.

Those who would like to purchase a brick are encouraged to email Questions can be directed to Ms. Raucci at

So far the PTO has raised $35,000 for the elementary school basketball court, and needs another $20,000 to reach its goal.

In the past, the PTO has held multiple fundraisers to raise funds for the new basketball court. Previously, it had held a fashion show at the Taylor Pavilion.
