BRICK TOWNSHIP — The makeup of the Brick Township Board of Education changed Thursday night, as the group bid farewell to departing members and welcomed their replacements onboard.
The winners of the Nov. 3 school board election, Melissa “Missy” Parker and Michael Blandina, were sworn into office at the onset of the annual reorganization meeting streamed on YouTube. Both were joined by family.
Ms. Parker and Mr. Blandina received 13,543 and 12,977 votes in the election, respectively, according to the results read into the record by business administrator and board secretary James Edwards.
Incumbent Jessica Clayton narrowly lost reelection with 12,963 votes, followed by newcomer challengers Micah Bender [12,126 votes] and Melissa Lozada [10,187 votes]. Another 320 votes were cast for write-in candidates.
