BRIELLE — The mayor and council met virtually on Monday night for the borough’s annual reorganization meeting, setting professional and municipal appointments for the year ahead.
Councilmen Tim Shaak and John Visceglia, who won reelection to their seventh and fifth terms, respectively, in November, were sworn in to new terms prior to the meeting.
The council members also nominated and elected fellow councilman, Paul Nolan, to serve as council president this year.
Mr. Nolan then announced the council committees for 2021, which are: administrative and personnel, chaired by Councilman Cort Gorham; budget and finance, chaired by Mr. Visceglia; public safety, chaired by Councilman Frank Garruzzo; community development, chaired by Councilman Michael Gianforte; public works, chaired by Mr. Shaak; and public resources, chaired by Mr. Nolan.
The council also approved the appointment of Carol Baran to the role of municipal clerk for a three-year term, which began on Jan. 1 and ends on Dec. 31, 2023.
