Brielle school says farewell to retiring staff, board member

BRIELLE — The Brielle School District recognized three members of the community during last Wednesday’s board of education meeting: school secretary Nancy Clayton, music teacher Janet Musso and board member Eliot Colon.

Ms. Clayon, who has worked at Brielle Elementary for 25 years is retiring this year. “I can’t believe how fast these years went. I want to thank you all, I’ve been very lucky to work here with so many great people who have become friends,” Ms. Clayton said.

Ms. Musso, also retiring this year, has worked at the elementary school for 30 years. She began her career in the Long Branch School District before moving to South Carolina and eventually returning to Brielle.

Last Wednesday’s meeting was also the last for board of education member Eliot Colon, who spent 11 years on the board, serving two years as president and one year as vice president.

“Through the years I’ve had the honor of serving with many fine board members,” Mr. Colon said. “Our board of ed comes from different backgrounds, professions and interests, but the commonality of all the board members is their desire to support the school, it’s children and their families, the educators and the Brielle community.”
