COVID case ends Brick Township’s football season

BRICK — A COVID-19 case on the Brick Township football team has ended the season for the 2-5 Dragons, according to Atheltic Director Pete Panuska.

The Dragons played seven of the eight alotted games this season, including one postseason pod matchup against the Central Regional Eagles on Friday, Nov. 13. Brick loses the final game of the season, a Week 8 matchup scheduled for this Friday, Nov. 20, against Raritan.

“It’s a COVID case and we shut down this week, so we lost our game on Friday against Raritan,” Mr. Panuska said.

Football is the only fall program to be affected, according to Mr. Panuska.

The junior varsity program’s game against Central on Monday, Nov. 16, was also cancelled according to the school’s athletic schedule webite. The freshman football game against Jackson Memorial on Thursday, Nov. 19, is still scheduled to play.
