Unopposed candidates secure seats on Brielle school board

BRIELLE — Two incumbents and one newcomer have secured the three available three-year seats on the Brielle Board of Education after running unchallenged in the November election.

Unofficial results as of Monday on the Monmouth County Board of Elections website showed a total of 6,093 votes; Theodore Vitale received 2,115, Magdalis Rodriguez Jones received 1,998 and Sean Wohltman received 1,969. Eleven write-in votes were counted.

According to the county, only 88 percent of election night mail-in ballots have been processed, not including mail-in ballots cast on Election Day. Late mail-in ballots, polling machine votes and provisional ballots are still pending.

Ms. Jones, Mr. Vitale and Mr. Wohltman will join board President Dennis Ingoglia, Vice President Karen Dettlinger, and members Kurt Becker,  David D’Ambrosio, Stephen LaValva and Joseph Milancewich. Board member Eliot Colon, whose term expires on Dec. 31, did not run for reelection.
