LAKE COMO — Two candidates, both incumbents, who ran unopposed for two available three-year seats on the Lake Como Borough Council, have won.
The two elected councilmen, Nicholas R. De Mauro and David Gardner, ran as Democrats. No members of the Monmouth County Republican Organization or any third party candidates filed petitions to be on the ballot.
Mr. De Mauro has served on the council since September 2019, when he filled the seat of John Carvelli. He will be serving his first full term on the Borough of Lake Como Council.
Mr. Gardner has served on the council since September 2018, when he took over the seat that Kevin Higgins left when he was appointed mayor.
The current makeup of the Lake Como Borough Council is six seats with one holding the position of council president. The two elected councilmen join Council President Douglas E. Witte, Councilwoman Virginia Kropac, Councilwoman Hawley Scull and Councilman Chris D’Antuono. Each member of the borough council is a member of the Democratic party.
