SEA GIRT — Sea Girt Fire Company No.1 will hold a food drive next weekend to benefit the four food pantries of the Manasquan Ministerium.
The food drive is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 24 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at The Plaza in front of the library. The rain date will be Sunday, Oct. 25, same time and place.
The pantries, all located in Manasquan, include the Manasquan Food Pantry in the Manasquan Presbyterian Church, 16 Virginia Ave.; Little Free Pantry located at First Baptist Church, 51 South St.; Hope Community Church, 23 Taylor Ave.; and St. Denis Church, 90 Union Ave.
Although the pantries operate separately, they all work together to help those in need. For pantry hours and contact information, visit https://manasquanareachurches.org/.
Next Saturday’s drive will be the second hosted by the fire company this year to benefit the Manasquan pantries, and in turn, families struggling as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.
“There’s a lot of people hurting … and the food pantries just can’t keep up,” Ed Sidley, co-chair of the food drive committee said. “It’s been a tough year. This is our small way of helping out and that’s what we’re doing.”
