LAKE COMO — The workshop portion of Tuesday’s borough council meeting featured discussion of a new noise ordinance for the borough, based on a model ordinance issued by the state.

The proposed ordinance would cover areas that residents have made complaints about in the recent past. The areas to be covered by the ordinance include vehicles being loaded and unloaded between the hours of 10 p.m. and 7 a.m. as well as unmuffled motor vehicles.

Mayor Kevin Higgins asked Ms. Schaffer in the case of the previous complaint of trucks loading at the early hours of the morning, would a summons have been issued.

Ms. Schaffer said, “Your noise control officer can be someone in the borough who can receive that complaint and if the resident describes it and it’s in violation of the ordinance, the next step is pretty easy and a summons can be issued shortly thereafter.”
