BRICK TOWNSHIP — The mayor and council have approved the $300,000 purchase of a vacant land lot with township capital improvement funds.
The municipality’s purchase of the approximately 1.35 acre, 58,860-square-foot site on Route 88 and Burrsville [Squankum] Road is “a necessary first step to ensure drainage and traffic improvements are completed,” according to Council President Lisa Crate. “Both projects are long overdue and have been held up because proper titles were not secure.”
The council also adopted a refunding bond ordinance encompassing general improvement bonds, taxable series 2009B, and series 2012 general obligation refunding bonds.
“Proceeding with the refunding, the township will be saving the approximate amount of $212,763 over the course of nine years,” Ms. Crate said.
