Brick earns second-straight win, Memorial falls to No.1 Wall

The Brick Township football team is now 3-3 after a dominating win over Howell on the road. The Dragons clicked on both sides of the ball and returned to their head-hunting ways, denying the Rebels a touchdown in the contest. 

Brick’s defensive hunt started on the opening drive of the game with Ian Gellner’s sack and continued later in the game with Declan DeCoursey interception that set up a Dragons touchdown. 

Three of the four Dragons touchdown came in the first half, including two in the first quarter from Anthony Prato. C.J. Lavarin scored Brick’s other two touchdowns, a seven-yard rush and a 39-yard catch.

Brick has a bye week coming up but will host No. 1 Wall Township on Friday, Oct. 25.

Wall Township 34 Brick Memorial 7

Brick Memorial lost to the No. 1 team in the Shore Conference but avoided the shutout in the final three minutes of the game thanks to Ahki Barksdale’s 45-yard touchdown. 

The Mustangs fell to 1-5 on the season and will be on the road next week at Marlboro on Saturday, Oct. 18, at 1 p.m.

Manchester 20 Point Beach 10

The Point Beach football team gave up a 10-point lead at halftime in a 20-10 loss on the road, Friday, Oct. 11. 

The Garnet Gulls gave up big plays on the offensive side, a fumble recovery for a touchdown and a interception that led to an eventual Hawks score. Manchester managed to shutout Beach in the final two quarters.

Beach left valuable points in the opening half with two-straight red zone appearances and only three points to show for it.

Senior Liam Buday scored the lone touchdown for the Gulls. Senior George Kaiafas finished 1-for-2 on field goals. 

Beach falls to 4-2 on the season and 3-2 in the National division. 

The Garnet Gulls continue their three-game road trip against Keansburg at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 19.
