BELMAR — The annual Feast of San Gennaro, one of the shore’s most popular annual celebrations of Italian culture and cuisine, is expected to draw hundreds of visitors to Belmar this coming weekend.
The festivities will run from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 14 and Sunday, Sept. 15, and be centered on Main Street, between 10th and 12th avenues.
The feast will be preceded on Saturday by a special Mass at St. Rose RC Church on 7th Avenue at 10 a.m. When the service concludes there will be a procession from the church to Main Street, where the festival will begin.
According to Mayor Walsifer, the event also serves to put a spotlight on businesses along Main Street.
“We hope there are a lot of people who come down and help our businesses out,” he said. “We do these things to get a lot of people into our business community and show people what we have to offer on Main Street.”
