40 Years of great food and great family at John & Elaine’s Restaurant


    From the owners to the staff and the customers, this quaint diner with nautical-themed decor is all about family. Family owned and operated for 40 years, John & Elaine’s Restaurant has been serving the best in breakfast and lunch to the Point Pleasant community seven days a week to the restaurant’s 175 seats. 



    When entering the establishment at 1103 Richmond Ave., Point Pleasant Beach, one is initially greeted by smiles and friendly faces by the staff who will guide you to a table as your dining experience begins. While taking in the large double-sided menu, servers bustle by with pots of coffee and delectable dishes. As soon as drinks hit the table, the owner John is already ensuring your experience thus far is going well as he greets tables and customers with a warm welcome. 

    The menu boasts fantastic omelettes, home fries, eggs benedict and so much more, which comes from a professional chef with over 50 years of culinary experience. Start your meal off with a hot coffee or tea or enjoy a fresh squeezed orange juice made to order at the counter. 


    From eggs, French toast, pancakes and ultimate pancakes, to benedicts, omelettes and breakfast sandwiches, the breakfast portion of the menu is extensive. All eggs are farm fresh from Puglise and can be served with homemade homefries and sides of breakfast meats like bacon, pork roll, sausage or ham. Other options include a ham steak off the bone, a 12 oz. strip steak and the restaurant’s own homemade corned beef hash made from their corned beef brisket. 

    French toast lovers can enjoy the choice of regular or thick Texas-style made fresh at the restaurant. Options include a short stack, regular stack with options to add breakfast meat on the side or apple cinnamon french toast. 

    Pancake options start out with plain or whole wheat and move on to chocolate chip and fresh blueberry pancakes. Short stack options include two pancakes with a regular serving being three. The Ultimate Pancakes section is also enticing as it features cinnamon raisin oatmeal pancakes and caramel apple cinnamon made fresh at John & Elaine’s. A seasonal option includes pumpkin pancakes, which is a house favorite that includes brown sugar and pecans when available. Can’t decide between pancakes and French toast? John & Elaine’s has an option for you and it’s a combination featuring two pancakes and two pieces of french toast with choice of bacon, sausage, ham or pork roll. 

    Benedicts are all served with three eggs on a jumbo Thomas English Muffin with the restaurant’s delicious Hollandaise sauce. The Jersey Girl comes with none other than pork roll and homefries, whereas The Bennie is made with sausage patties. The Garden is fresh from the farm with fresh spinach and tomato. The Crabby Patty is made with Maryland Crabcakes and traditional benedicts are also available. 

    Omelets are also served with homefries and toast and include several options from various cheese omelets to veggie styles. “The Omelet” is made with ham, sausage, bacon, mushroom, cheese, peppers, onions and tomatoes.     The lunch menu at John & Elaine’s is all about sandwiches with a plethora of varieties from various grilled cheeses to tuna, shrimp, chicken and egg salad options. The Crispy Chicken BLT is a house winner. The hot roast beef or turkey open sandwich is served with mashed potatoes. The Fried Flounder Sandwich is fresh breaded in house. Order the Thanksgiving Sandwich and you’ll think you’re at Grandmas. 

    John & Elaine’s Famous Sandwiches feature Hot Corned Beef Kosher style, Hot Pastrami Kosher style on fresh bakery rye bread. Other options include Fried Clamstrips on a bun, Roast Turkey and a Tuna Melt. The Grilled Reuben includes corned beef, sauerkraut and Swiss cheese. The lunch menu also features hot dogs, burgers and soups.
