SPRING LAKE — The New Jersey Department of Transportation has announced the award of over $150 million in grants to over 537 municipalities with Spring Lake receiving $250,000 for the Fifth Avenue Phase II project.

The project will cover Fifth Avenue from Warren Avenue and head north, according to Mayor Jennifer Naughton during Tuesday night’s borough council meeting.

According to the mayor, the project will include paving as well as assessing conditions underneath the roadway to ensure everything is up to standard, as well as doing any necessary water, sewer and curbing projects.

Even though the money was just recently awarded to municipalities, the borough is ready to begin work on the road shortly.
