BRIELLE — Local business owners, officials and guests dressed their best for the 15th annual Pride of Brielle dinner last Wednesday, Jan. 23, to celebrate this year’s guest of honor, Joe Leone Introna.

A 15-year tradition, the Pride of Brielle is awarded annually by the Brielle Chamber of Commerce, “to an individual, member, business and or an organization of the community who exemplifies the Brielle spirit in both their professional and personal lives,” a press release states.

This year’s recipient, Mr. Introna, was nominated by a committee comprised of chamber members and past honorees.

Mr. Introna said receiving this award has been special for him, because of how the chamber introduced it to him.

“This was actually an award for me as the Pride of Brielle,” he said, rather than it being an award for the business.

Mr. Introna is the owner of Joe Leone’s Gastronomia in Sea Girt as well as Joe Leone’s Italian Specialties, which he co-founded in 1997 in Point Pleasant Beach alongside John Hilla. He and his business have helped out countless individuals both locally and internationally, through sponsoring events, donating funds, resources and much more.
