Jail time for former Bradley Beach Fire Dept. treasurer


BRADLEY BEACH — The former treasurer for the Bradley Beach Fire Department has been sentenced to three years in state prison after pleading guilty to stealing $40,000 from the department.

According to a press release from The Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office, Christine Paladino, 41 of Neptune Township, was sentenced in Monmouth County Superior Court by Judge Richard W. English on Friday, Jan. 4. 

She is required to spend two years in prison before being eligible for parole, since she was a public official. 

In August of 2018 she had pleaded guilty  to one count of third-degree theft by deception, admitting to that she she stole the funds through checks, debit card charges, and ATM withdrawals between May 2016 and December 2017. 

As part of a plea agreement, she must pay back the $40,000 in restitution, as well as is prohibited from holding public office in the future.
