Borough moves forward with ‘green’ initiatives

LAKE COMO — Two resolutions to aid in Lake Como’s Green Team were approved by council members at the meeting Tuesday night.

Resolution 2018-120, authorizing the application for the Green Team Capacity Building Grant and Resolution 2018-121, authorizing the application for the Sustainable Jersey Gardinier Grant, were unanimously passed by council members.

The resolutions, offered by Councilwoman Hawley Scull, allow the borough to apply for grants to help fund the green team, she said.

Ms. Scull explained the funding from the Green Team Capacity Building Grant would be used for “community outreach for ‘green’ initiatives, or purchasing equipment to aid in green team presentations.”

The grant would fund up to $2,000, she added.

The Sustainable Jersey Gardinier Grant would be used to help fund the installation of an electric-vehicle charging station in Lake Como, should the council decide to move forward with the project.

According to Ms. Scull, the amount for this grant is up to $10,000.
